This year is the 10th anniversary of our bicycle urbanism Master Class! While we have seen impressive progress across the globe in the last decade, Copenhagen remains a world leader in cycling infrastructure design, policy, and services. To celebrate these changing times and the evolution of bicycle urbanism around the world, Copenhagenize is offering a new specialized technical course focused on infrastructure, design, and the use of data and observation to meet the users’ needs. This intensive three-day immersive course will spotlight Copenhagen’s best practices using the city as a classroom for experiencing and learning. In a city where cycling is second nature, Copenhagen is an obvious choice for this high-level learning.
The winding streets in the historic center are one thing, but the majority of this sprawling European capital features wide boulevards that resemble countless city streets in the world. It is here, like no other city in the world, where inspiration for a bicycle future is strongest. With best practice infrastructure planning and design on full display, the city shows us visions of how other cities can continue moving towards a safer and human-scaled future.
Along with gaining a deep understanding of the ongoing transformation of Copenhagen, this new Master Class will delve further into technical aspects of bicycle infrastructure design, keeping a clear focus on a user-oriented approach and traffic safety, as well as exploring the bicycle desire lines and data collection methodologies that allow cities to respond to users’ needs. Join the Master Class and learn all the ins and outs of creating a bicycle-friendly city, going from the macro level all the way down to the micro details.
