Chandrika Cycil completed her interdisciplinary PhD in the Department of Computer Science at Brunel University, London between 2011-2015.Her PhD thesis was titled “Technology and the family car: situating media use in family life”. Her PhD was co-supervised by Dr. Mark Perry (Brunel University) and Dr. Eric Laurier (University of Edinburgh). She also received an EPSRC Impact Grant during her PhD which enabled her to extend her PhD fieldwork, to engage in industry research for the development of in-car technology which included collaborative research visits to Volvo and Microsoft Research.
